Major: Broadcast and Digital Journalism

Minor: Spanish Language

Orange Trivia: Will be studying abroad in Madrid, Spain in Spring 2026.

Donor generosity has been a blessing. I was able to study at a school of my dreams and pursue a career that was once just an idea, all because of the opportunity given to me to study here from the University and its donors.

Describe your Syracuse experience so far.

My experience at Syracuse University has been truly life changing. Coming from Miami, Florida, moving away from what was familiar and comfortable was a big challenge. At first, I wasn’t sure if Syracuse was the right school for me or if I would find my place here. Luckily, over time, I’ve grown more comfortable and have started to feel a true sense of belonging on campus.

I’ve had the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds, which has helped me learn a lot about others—and about myself. Syracuse has given me the space and support to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things. Through clubs like Z89 Radio, Citrus TV, Orange Seeds and more, I’ve been able to explore my passions and interests in ways I never imagined.

How is your school/college preparing you for your future career?

Newhouse has been incredibly impactful in preparing me for my future career. Through hands-on classes, access to top-of-the-line equipment and technology and opportunities to work on real-world assignments, I’ve been able to build both technical skills and professional confidence. The professors bring industry experience into the classroom, and I’ve also gained valuable connections through networking events, internships and student organizations. Newhouse has helped me grow not just as a journalist, but as an adaptable, intuitive communicator ready to take on the challenges of the ever-changing industry.

How has your involvement with Hendricks impacted you?

When people ask me where some place on campus is where I feel at home, I tell them it’s my job at Hendricks Chapel—a statement made from the bottom of my heart. My involvement with Hendricks Chapel has been one of the most meaningful parts of my Syracuse University experience, hands down. As a hospitality associate, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and connect with people from a wide range of religious and cultural backgrounds. This role has taught me invaluable interpersonal and professional skills—from greeting and supporting guests during both joyful and difficult moments to helping maintain and care for the chapel space. These experiences have not only deepened my appreciation for community and interfaith understanding but also equipped me with tools I’ll carry into my future career and relationships.

This past semester, I have also had the opportunity to intern with Dara Harper as a Communications Associate intern for Hendricks Chapel. In this role, I have been able to learn a great deal about social media, behind-the-scenes of branding and marketing and how to successfully appeal to your audience. I hope to continue my opportunities at Hendricks throughout the rest of my time here as a student and continue to make more special memories.

What has been your favorite Syracuse experience so far?

Every day I find something new to be excited about here at SU. I would have to say one of my favorite Syracuse experiences so far has to be seeing snow for the first time. Coming from Miami, Florida, I grew up in shorts, sunburns at the beach and nothing lower than 70 degrees (anything below that and everyone would be in their sweaters!) I remember it so clearly, on November 1st of my freshman year, it began to snow late into the evening. My friends and I ran outside, and I immediately jumped into the snow, making snow angels on the Quad and building snowmen. It was such a beautiful experience, and even though I am not a huge fan of the cold, it was a moment I will always cherish!

Why do you think giving is important?

Giving back to others is extremely important to me. When you give back, you help others succeed alongside you. It allows for compassion to shine through, relationships to be made and blessings to continue. I've seen firsthand how even the smallest acts of kindness and generosity can impact someone’s day and inspire them to pay it forward. Giving is such a powerful tool that we have easy access to, and it never runs out.

What does it mean to you to be Orange?

To be Orange means being part of something bigger than yourself—a community that values connection, curiosity and care. In the two years I’ve been here, the amount of pride I have felt from my peers is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced at another school. It means showing up for others, striving for excellence and accepting the diverse voices that make Syracuse University so special. Being Orange is all about uplifting yourself and others, taking something from each experience you have and using what you have learned to do the impossible.
