Orange Trivia: Worked for the Newhouse School on the social media team and is a recipient of the Newhouse Leadership Scholarship.
“As a scholarship recipient, donor generosity has allowed me to fully focus on my academics, explore extracurriculars, and take advantage of everything Syracuse has to offer. I’ve been able to grow as a student, leader and individual and pursue multiple experiences. I’m extremely grateful for the support and one day hope to give back in a similar way.”
Describe your Syracuse experience.
So far, my Syracuse experience has been nothing less than amazing. I’ve met an incredible group of friends while at school, while also learning from amazing faculty. Socially, there’s nothing more exciting than going to a Syracuse basketball game or University Union event! I can’t imagine spending four years anywhere else and am still very proud of my choice of school.
Have you performed any internships and how has that impacted you?
I have had the opportunity to participate in internships every summer that I’ve been in college. The summer after my freshman year, I worked for Cover Communications, a strategic communications firm in Washington, D.C. The summer after my sophomore year, I worked for Newhouse on its social media team. Lastly, the summer after my junior year, I worked at Live Nation Entertainment in New York City under the Brand and Sponsorships team.
Have you studied abroad? Tell me about that experience.
This past spring I studied abroad in Rome, Italy and it was a life-changing, eye-opening experience. I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to live right next to the Vatican, and it was particularly special because it was a Jubilee year. Being immersed in such a historic and beautiful city allowed me to experience a new culture firsthand, while also taking exciting classes. The experience definitely broadened my perspective, while also deepening my appreciation for communities that are different than mine.
What has been your favorite Syracuse experience so far?
My favorite Syracuse experience so far was getting the opportunity to travel to Boston with Newhouse to help recruit new students! It’s always so amazing to see the next generation of communications professionals and I love sharing my Newhouse experience with them.
Why do you think giving is important?
For me, giving is important because it allows people to experience opportunities that they might not have been able to in the first place. It’s a way of investing and believing in others in need.
What does it mean to you to be Orange?
To me, being Orange means being a part of something bigger than yourself. It means being a part of community that supports one another and values collaboration and connection. It means showing up for others and carrying the Syracuse spirit wherever you go. Most importantly, being Orange means pushing yourself and others to be the best they can be.
