“To me being Orange is about making a lasting impact on your community, such that it continues to evolve for the better after you’re gone.”
Describe your Syracuse experience.
My experience at Syracuse so far has been an exciting transition. I came from a small undergraduate institution, the wonderful Siena College, and I was concerned about making an impact coming to a larger school. In my first year at Syracuse College of Law, I ran for Class President and have been Class President ever since. This role continues to introduce me to so many integral parts of Syracuse University and the Syracuse community that I am extremely grateful.
How is the College of Law preparing you for your future career?
My experience at the College of Law so far has been eye-opening. The law school academic experience is certainly different from previous institutions, but it presents new and exciting experiences. I have had the pleasure of working in courthouses like the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and the Onondaga County Supreme Court, right here in Syracuse. I have gained valuable experience working with the public and my peers, all thanks to the guidance of law professors.
What has been your favorite Syracuse experience so far?
One of my favorite experiences at Syracuse so far was planning a school-wide fundraiser. As Class President for the second-year law students, I had the responsibility of organizing Barristers’ Ball, a fundraiser for law students’ regalia for their graduating year. In preparation for the event, I reached out to local businesses for donations and raised thousands of dollars for our class.
Why do you think giving is important?
Giving inspires community and scholarship. Donations are especially impactful for students who need to purchase textbooks for the semester, or dinner for the week when they do not have time to cook. Donations empower student organizations to host events, allow students to attend academic conferences and enable students to participate in national competitions.
